Booklet and Catalogue Printing UK: Saddle Stitch, Spiral Bound and Perfect Bound Explained

Why Booklets Still Win When You Have a Lot to Say

Some messages can't fit on a flyer. When you have a product range to showcase, a service to explain in depth, or a story to tell that deserves more than two sides of A5 — a professionally printed booklet or catalogue is the answer. It positions your business as established and credible in a way that digital content simply can't replicate.

At Digraphics, we offer a full range of booklet printing formats including stapled saddle stitch, spiral (wiro) bound, and perfect bound catalogues, in A5 and A6 sizes. Starting from £115 for 10 copies, with free UK delivery.

Stapled (Saddle Stitch) Booklets

The most affordable and widely used booklet format. Pages are folded and stapled through the spine, creating a clean, professional result. Ideal for programmes, menus, product catalogues, and company brochures. Available in A5 (148×210mm) and A6 (105×148mm), from 16 pages.

Stapled booklets are the right choice when you need cost-effective quantities of 100 or more and your content fits within around 40–48 pages.

Spiral (Wiro) Bound Books

Spiral binding uses a metal wire coil along the left edge, allowing the book to lay completely flat when open. This makes spiral books ideal for training manuals, recipe books, rate cards, design portfolios, and anything where the user needs both hands free while referring to the content. Available in A5 and A6, from 32 pages.

Perfect Bound Catalogues

Perfect binding creates a square spine — the pages are glued to a wrap-around cover using PUR adhesive, resulting in a look and feel identical to a paperback book. This is the premium format for high-end product catalogues, annual reports, lookbooks, and corporate publications. Available in A5 and A6, from 64 pages, with a choice of cover lamination including gloss, matt, soft-touch, velvet, and gold foil.

Which Binding Should You Choose?

  • Under 48 pages, 100+ copies needed: Saddle stitch is most economical.
  • Needs to lay flat (training, cookery, reference): Spiral/wiro binding is the answer.
  • Premium catalogue or corporate publication: Perfect binding looks the most professional and commands attention.
  • Novel or self-published book: We also offer budget novel printing — see our paperback novel printing range.

Premium Cover Finishes Available

For perfect bound catalogues, we offer a range of cover finishes that dramatically elevate the perceived value of your publication:

  • Gloss lamination: Vivid and protective, great for image-led publications.
  • Matt lamination: Sophisticated and premium, widely used for luxury brands.
  • Soft-touch lamination: Velvety, tactile finish that feels extraordinary.
  • Velvet lamination: Ultra-deep, suede-like texture for top-tier publications.
  • Gold foil: Metallic gold detailing on selected design elements for maximum luxury.
  • Spot UV: Glossy varnish applied selectively for a striking contrast effect.
